The weather has finally broken and while it isn’t warm the sharp cold snap seems to have released us from its grip. The fishing conditions have been variable with some coloured water after heavy rain but mostly fairly clear.

Bellbrook Fishing Report week ending 6th September 2013
What a fantastic summer it's been for us humans . . . not so good for the trout! July and August have been challenging months for the anglers at Bellbrook but now with the water temperature decreasing and the odd shower or two the fish are certainly becoming more lively.
This week saw the return of one of our most prolific fishermen, Dean Luckhurst from Exmouth (and his dad, Keith, who taught him all he knows about fishing . . . apparently!) I explained to him, as I have been to all this summer’s arrivals, that the specimens had gone deep and were not the least bit interested in feeding, however provocative the fly. Dean, even on a bad day, will catch four specimens and so my heart soared to think that he'd returned to our lakes. As much as I'd like to give a happy ending to this story, I can't. Dean and Keith did catch but only normals using a Yellow Lure and the infamous Black Luckhurst. Those big specimens were still playing hard to get.
Paddy Gibson from Burnham on Sea was another successful angler this week catching a couple of normals using a red Buzzer very lightly dressed. But he was still having to fish deep to catch those.
Towards the end of the week Miles Parnell from Tiverton dropped by late afternoon and caught at around 6 inches deep certainly confirming the fact the fish were starting to rise.
Visiting anglers from Rainham, Mark and Sam Tester, were the top catchers this week bagging 6 normals between them and finding a Buzzer working the best.
The swallows are gathering and there's been noticeably more surface activity in the last couple of days . . . so fingers crossed the specimens will be hungry for your flies . . .
