We’ve had a colder slightly more windy week with plenty of hard showers which definitely had an effect on numbers at the fishery. However that just meant more fish for the hardy souls who...
Bellbrook Fishing Report week ending 14th November 2014
Its been a quiet week with the weather putting off all but the most determined. If you like your fishing quiet and soulful this is a good time of year to get out there! The rain this week has meant we’ve had some coloured water but not all of the lakes. We are able to keep the dirty water out of the specimen lake which has meant it’s remained fairly clear. Having said that we’ve had some good catches on all the lakes and the successful fly is still very varied meaning you have to try a few!
Robin Linton of Sidmouth joined us with a few friends managing to catch his bag of 5 fish for 12 lbs off the normals. Nick Lake managed his 5 for 17lbs and Anthony Dodson caught 4 fish for 9-4. The most popular fly was the Montana fished on a floating line with a medium retrieve.
John Winsow from Exmouth had a half day on the normals catching his two fish on a Daddy near the top fished on a floating line with a steady retrieve.
Birthday boy John King joined us from Wells having taken the day off to treat himself. He arrived good and early and managed to land two fish: one out of the specimens for 4-13 and one form the normals for 2-5. It was a modest result but given the mixed weather and the amount of rain the previous night John was right to be well pleased.
Regular visitor Mark Astley from Plymouth also had a hard days fishing on the specimen lakes finally managing a quality 5-3 rainbow out of the specimen lake. Mark commented on the number of fish moving and how hard it was to see what they were feeding on. In the end a small Orange Buzzer did the necessary – at least it wasn’t a blank!
We have a competition here on Sunday 23rd November against local fishery Temple so please try to avoid visiting us on that day. And the Annual Christmas Fish Off takes place on the 30th November – there are still places for that so please get in touch if you’d like to join in.
Any questions about the fishery please call Chris on 01398 351292.
